The Alaska House just passed a budget with a guaranteed $1,500 PFD.

Daily Alaska staff · April 20, 2026 · Juneau

After three days of debate in Juneau, the House advanced a budget that guarantees a $1,500 dividend for every eligible Alaskan. A committee had floated a $3,800 check earlier this month, but that plan would have drained half the state's rainy day fund.

The full House pulled it back and settled on $1,500 as the baseline. There's still a path to the full statutory amount, but it would require three-quarters of both the House and Senate to agree to tap savings, which almost never happens.

The budget also includes a $158 million boost for public schools and money for pupil transportation. Senate leaders have said they're aiming closer to $1,000, so the final number could shift again before the session ends.

Our PFD check is still a moving target.
