and after months of fighting in Juneau, here's the number.

The governor just signed the state budget, and it locks in this year's Permanent Fund dividend at one thousand dollars.

On top of that, there's a two hundred dollar energy relief payment for every eligible Alaskan. Add it up and that's twelve hundred dollars headed your way this fall.

This one went right down to the wire. It took a special session, a lot of back and forth, and plenty of finger pointing before it finally got signed. For a while there, it wasn't even clear we'd land on a number at all.

Good news for families, schools didn't get cut. The money that runs our school districts stayed in, and there's a big chunk set aside to fix up aging school buildings around the state.

The budget also sets money aside for disaster relief and for fighting wildfires this summer, which matters a lot in a year like this one.

So if you're one of the many of us already budgeting around that fall check, now you've got your real number. One thousand for the dividend, two hundred for energy, twelve hundred total.

Write it down, because after all that back and forth, this is the figure that's actually signed into law.
