Construction is officially underway on the new Home2 Suites by Hilton at the Shoppes at Sun Mountain. The project brings a 107-room extended-stay hotel to a city that’s been asking for more lodging options as growth keeps accelerating.
It’s also the first major national hotel brand to plant a flag in the Mat-Su, which says a lot about where the Valley is headed. The site sits right off Parks Highway, giving travelers and families an easy spot to land without driving into Anchorage.
For local businesses, more overnight traffic means fuller restaurants and steadier retail flow year-round. Crews are aiming for a late-summer 2026 opening, which lines up with several other commercial builds rising along the corridor.
It’s another sign that Wasilla is shifting from commuter town to regional hub. And the hospitality market is now catching up to that reality.
Big-city amenities are finally reaching the Valley.
