and it wasn't the only rink that changed hands.

The Assembly signed off on brand new contracts for all three city-owned arenas, and the deals took effect July first. The Sullivan is now run by a group called All In 49. Ben Boeke and Dempsey Anderson went to a new outfit called Anchorage Community Ice Management.

If you've got a kid in hockey, or you've ever laced up at Boeke, this is the crew you'll be dealing with now. City leaders say the old setup left them uneasy about oversight and how the public's money was being spent. One Assembly member put it plainly, saying they weren't confident they were being responsible stewards of these facilities under the last operator.

The hope here is stability. These rinks have bounced between operators for years, and every switch means fresh questions about ice time, staffing, and whether the doors stay open all winter. For a building like the Sullivan, that history is a big deal, and the city is still weighing what the arena's long-term future looks like.

For now the message is simple. Same ice, same rinks we grew up on, new people in charge. We'll be watching to see if the skating this winter feels any smoother.
