the glenn is getting wider

The drive into Palmer is about to get a lot smoother.

The state is rebuilding the Glenn Highway between the Parks Highway junction and Palmer. The whole stretch is becoming a four-lane road with a grassy median down the middle.

If you commute this corridor, you already know the pain points. The new setup adds real turn lanes with signals, plus frontage roads so you're not fighting cross traffic the whole way. This is the road just about everyone north of the junction lives on.

They're also widening the shoulders and adding a ten-foot separated path along the highway. That means walkers and cyclists finally get their own space, off to the side.

The first phase is already finished, and crews have been working the second phase for a couple of summers now. So expect lane shifts, the occasional closure, and some slow spots while it wraps up.

The big change you'll feel is that median. It cuts off some of the left turns that used to gum up the whole road, and the frontage roads are there to handle those turns instead.

For a Valley that keeps growing, this is the kind of upgrade that makes the daily drive easier on everyone. More lanes, fewer headaches, and a safer ride between Palmer and the junction.
