the fling is back

Downtown Palmer goes from quiet farm town to packed block party every Friday all summer.

Daily Alaska staff · June 4, 2026

Friday Fling just rolled back into downtown Palmer for the summer.

The twenty-fourth year of the Fling kicked off in May, and it runs every Friday from eleven in the morning to six at night. Fifty vendors, fifteen-ish food trucks, and live music in the heart of downtown.

It takes over the streets through August fourteenth. The only week it skips is Colony Days in June, when the whole town is already a party. So you've got a full summer of Fridays to plan around it.

For a lot of Valley families, this is just the weekly summer rhythm. Drop the kids, grab a kettle corn bag, listen to whoever's playing, and run into half the people you know.

If you bake, grow, craft, or build something with your hands, this is where you find your weekly customers. The chamber says these markets are how a lot of small Valley businesses keep the doors open the rest of the year.
