RVs head downtown

Anchorage is planning a major shift for a chunk of downtown land near Third Avenue and Ingra Street.

Daily Alaska staff · January 18, 2026 · Anchorage

Plans are moving forward for a 15 acre RV resort at Third Avenue and Ingra Street, right on the edge of downtown. This would bring more than a hundred full service RV hookups into an area that’s mostly sat underused for years.

The concept goes beyond parking rigs. The site includes an Alaska Native cultural memorial garden, an outdoor amphitheater, pickleball courts, and space meant to pull both visitors and locals in.

There’s also a dozen long term housing units built into the plan, adding a small but notable residential piece to the project. If everything stays on track, construction would wrap up around 2028.

This is a big bet on tourism and downtown land use changing at the same time.
