and it lands in Fairbanks this weekend for two days only.

A nonprofit called Remote Area Medical is setting up a free pop-up clinic at the Carlson Center on Saturday and Sunday. Medical, dental, and vision, all of it at no cost. Free means free. Not discounted, not sliding scale.

That means physical exams and prescription consultations. It means cleanings, fillings, extractions, and dental X-rays. And it means a full eye exam with prescription glasses, some of them made right there on site.

Nobody asks for your insurance. Nobody asks for identification. You don't need to register ahead of time.

It runs first come, first served until they hit capacity, and that capacity is real. Because of the time, some patients get asked to pick between dental and vision. So the earlier you show up, the more you get done.

Doors open at six in the morning both days, and the parking lot opens just before midnight Friday for the people who want to be first in line.

Bring your medications, water, a snack, and clothes for whatever the weather does. Sunday runs shorter, so if that's your day, get there early.
