Ten-thousand-plus homes are still dark across Palmer and Wasilla after winds slammed the Valley with gusts topping 80 miles an hour. Crews have been chasing lines all weekend, but every fix seems to snap something else down the road. Neighborhoods that rarely lose power are now on day two or three without heat, and some folks are living out of their cars to keep warm. Broken fences, peeled roofs, and tipped trailers are showing up block by block. This storm didn’t just knock things around — it exposed how stretched the grid gets when the Valley gets hit this hard. And with the wind still pushing, repairs are slowing to a crawl. Families are checking on each other, sharing generators, and just trying to get through the next gust.
