Fireweed housing?

A vacant lot on Fireweed Lane in Midtown is now lined up for new workforce apartments, and it could change this stretch fast.

The Anchorage Community Development Authority is looking for a developer to build at least 24 energy efficient apartments at 202 to 204 East Fireweed Lane. These homes are meant for working residents earning roughly 80 to 120 percent of the area median income, not luxury pricing.

The plan is for a long term project where the developer builds, owns, and operates the property under a ground lease. Teams interested have until February 19, 2026 to submit, with construction targeted to start in spring 2026 and wrap up by late 2027.

Fireweed already connects Midtown jobs, transit, and daily traffic, so this location is doing a lot of the work on its own. More housing here could ease pressure across nearby neighborhoods and rentals.
