Fairbanks builds a big draw

Fairbanks is getting a major new cultural attraction with the Fountainhead Transportation Museum set to open in spring 2026.

Fairbanks is building a brand new museum for Alaska’s transportation history.

The new Fountainhead Transportation Museum is set to open in 2026, bringing 135 vintage cars and aircraft under one roof.

Two aviation museums are being merged into a single, purpose-built facility designed for year-round visitors. This isn’t a small exhibit tucked away somewhere. It’s a state-of-the-art space built to showcase how Alaska actually moved, flew, and survived.

For Fairbanks, this adds a major indoor attraction that works even in deep winter. For Interior tourism, it creates a new anchor that keeps visitors in town longer instead of passing through.

Families, school groups, and out-of-state travelers all get something tangible and visual.
