disney just signed through 2041

Disney just committed to a small Southeast Alaska town through 2041, and that town's whole economy runs off the dock.

and it locks in the biggest employer in a small Southeast town.

Huna Totem Corporation signed a fifteen year agreement with Disney Cruise Line at Icy Strait Point, running through twenty forty-one. It keeps preferential docking access, brings one Disney ship a week, and comes with a minimum annual passenger guarantee.

Icy Strait Point is the largest employer in Hoonah. So a fifteen year commitment isn't just a cruise schedule. It's fifteen years of paychecks and visitor spending a town can actually plan around, and for a place where the dock is the economy, that kind of runway is rare.

Disney doubled down on Alaska this year, going from one ship to two, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. They've been calling at Icy Strait Point for close to a decade already.

The same update carried harder news on a second Huna Totem development. That one's been trimmed from fifty thousand square feet down to eighteen thousand, while the cost climbed from a hundred fifty million dollars back in twenty twenty-three to more than two hundred fifty million now.

The start has been pushed to next summer, with completion aimed at twenty twenty-eight.

Two very different signals out of the same corporation, in the same week.

So one Southeast project just got fifteen years of certainty, and the other one waits.
