Anchorage has 12 propositions on the ballot this week and $155 million on the line.

Ballots are due April 7, and you can still hand-deliver yours to the Clerk's Office or any drop box around the city. Six Assembly seats and two school board spots are also on the ballot.

The biggest ask is Proposition 1, which would green light $79 million for school capital improvements including work at Romig Middle School and several elementary sites. Proposition 2 would authorize $38 million for roads and drainage across the Anchorage service area.

There is also a one-time $12 million school levy designed to stop cuts to student programs and protect teacher jobs. This is a single-year ask, not a multi-decade bond. The school district is dealing with a $90 million budget shortfall, and this levy is one of the few lifelines still on the table before the end of the school year.
