Anchorage wants a wall

And it's about to be 7 miles long.

JBER wants to put up an 8 foot fence right along the Anchorage boundary. It would stretch 7 miles, from East Muldoon up through Stuckagain Heights. In some spots, it would sit barely 10 steps from a front porch.

Hiland Road in Eagle River is also on the list. The Air Force says the existing fencing has gaps that let folks trespass onto military land.

Nothing breaks ground until 2032 at the earliest. Neighbors, assembly members, and state legislators are already pushing back hard. The big concern beyond the view is wildlife, since moose corridors have run through that boundary for generations.

Public comment is open until May 30. For East Muldoon, Stuckagain Heights, and Eagle River residents, this is the window to weigh in.
