Anchorage is proposing an $8.99 billion bond package focused on public safety, transit, and major infrastructure upgrades. This would go on the April ballot alongside other bonds for roads, drainage, parks, and school projects.
The public safety and transit piece is the biggest slice, aimed at long-term fixes rather than quick patches. These bonds are how Anchorage pays for large projects without cutting services upfront.
If approved, this would shape what gets built or repaired across the city for years. If rejected, a lot of those projects simply stall.
For homeowners, bonds matter because they’re paid back through property taxes over time. For commuters and neighborhoods, they determine what actually gets improved.
This vote is less about politics and more about what kind of city Anchorage wants to maintain.
