anchorage is eating good
Anchorage just got Polynesian food, a board game cafe, and a brand new cannabis shop, all in the same month.

Here’s some recently new spots in town to enjoy.
Suka's Polynesian Cuisine is the real deal. The owners started selling Spam musubi and katsu chicken from a food truck during the pandemic, kept showing up, and finally opened a brick-and-mortar spot. It's the kind of origin story that makes a restaurant worth rooting for.
The Side Quest opened in January with 306 board games on the menu. No screens, just tables and choices. Monopoly is the crowd favorite, which says a lot about how Anchorage plays. Downtown near Sixth Avenue, a new cannabis shop called High Country is also open for business.
There are also new Mexican and globally-inspired American spots that are part of this same wave of openings. None of these are chains. They're all local operators who took a bet on this city. New independent businesses are one of the clearest signs a neighborhood is alive and growing.
Go try something new this weekend.
