The borough's selling off remote land by lottery.

The Fairbanks North Star Borough is putting 54 chunks of land up for grabs. They sit about 38 miles north of town. We're talking real spruce country for a cabin or a getaway.

The parcels run from a couple acres up to almost 18. They're meant for personal, non-commercial use, like a hunting spot or a quiet weekend place. Heads up though, you reach them by trail, not a paved road.

Here's how it works. You buy a lottery ticket for 25 bucks, and you can buy as many as you want. Each ticket is a shot at a parcel, but you can only win one place.

The sale is set to kick off in late June. If you win, you still buy the land, but it's a rare crack at owning a piece of the Interior. For anyone in Fairbanks or North Pole who's always wanted their own patch of woods, this is your moment.
