50 Years of Chinese Lunar in Alaska

On Sunday February 15th this event is set to bring families and neighbors together at Dimond High School for performances, food, and cultural displays.
What started decades ago as a small gathering has grown into one of Anchorage’s longest running cultural celebrations. Dancers, music, and bright decorations filled the gym as people moved in and out all afternoon.
Organizers described the annual event as a family-style tradition that keeps people connected year after year. Many attendees said this celebration feels as important as any major holiday.
The 50th anniversary adds extra meaning to this year’s celebration, especially for longtime members who have watched it grow. This year’s event brings in special performances to commemorate the golden anniversary.
